Job Description

Job Description
At Lexipol, our mission is to create safer communities and empower the individuals on the front lines with market-leading content and technology. Our top-notch team works closely with law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, and local government professionals to tailor our solutions to better address today’s challenges and keep first responders coming home safely at the end of each shift.

Working at Lexipol means making a difference – day in and day out.

We’re looking for a creative dynamo who is comfortable using new design tools (like Canva), is excited about finding new tools to help scale (like AI-driven video creation tools) and has the design chops to take an idea and turn it into a mobile-friendly digital asset that engages, informs, and inspires our first responder audience. We are also looking for a fantastic teammate: someone with strong opinions (but loosely held), a bias for action and collaboration (no egos here!), someone who thrives on feedback, and someone who is passionate about creating exceptional, market-leading work. This position is remote.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Simultaneously support a wide range of design tasks across multiple projects, delivering assets like infographics, social creative, short videos, ebooks, case studies, white papers, article imagery and presentations
  • Ability to manage projects efficiently and independently, balancing both long-term projects and tight short turnarounds (sharp and speedy execution, quick revision cycles)
  • Help drive creative and brand identity across our main media brands (Police1, FireRescue1, EMS1, Corrections1 and Gov1) and channels (web, social, newsletter, video)
  • Present fresh creative concepts while adhering to corporate and brand guidelines. This includes creating new templates other team members can use across channels.
  • Work with teams to ensure deadlines are met, working to proactively identify issues that may impact deliverables
  • Avid attention to detail and proven ability to produce polished and modern assets
  • Keep up to date with technology and design trends that impact skills and output
  • Potentially review and manage work created by freelancers and/or another staff designer
  • An insights/data-informed curiosity and drive to create and optimize work so that it engages our audience (aware of best principles to drive engagement)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced level of proficiency with new tools like Canva and a proven aptitude to discover new technology (like AI) that can help scale and better the work. (Would need proficiency with the usual suite of design tools like PhotoShop, Figma, Adobe, Sketch, etc.)
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles -- and how they affect design and engagement/performance
  • Strong portfolio of digital work, including social media assets, that demonstrates creativity and an ability to independently lead projects from concept to delivery
  • Self-motivated attitude with ability to prioritize and drive projects from inception to execution and meet objectives, milestones, and deadlines
  • Strong communicator who can collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders, including external partners and clients when necessary
  • Motion graphics, light video editing, CSS, and basic HTML skills are a bonus
  • A rolodex of creative industry contacts (to tap into for freelance needs) are a bonus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BFA in graphic design or equivalent work experience
  • 5-10+ years’ experience in design (graphic, product, etc.) in an editorial, marketing or other professional setting
  • Preferred experience/familiarity with public safety and first responders

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Deliver quality work on par with expectations and deadlines
  • Effective collaboration with team and stakeholders

Duties listed are not intended to be exhaustive or exclusive; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Compensation and Benefits
