Robert Half is hiring: Legal Editor - J.D. required in Seattle

A government agency is seeking a Legal Editor for their legal publications. A Juris Doctor and attorney bar license is required. The position would be responsible for the review, selection and curation of their published articles ensuring legal accuracy of content, materials and sources. It would hold a leadership position, overseeing two other professionals on the team.

Job Details:

• Manage the fiscal, editorial, production, marketing, and fulfillment functions in print and online versions.
• Manage partnerships with outside entities to license materials
• Help recruit volunteer authors and editors and manage those relationships
• Guide processes for content development and provide review—or recruit peer reviewers—to evaluate substantive legal content.
• Perform final review over all content prior to publication.
• Develop and oversees the budget and monitor efforts of outside ad sales company to reach budget revenue goals in order to cover costs of producing the magazine.
• Supervise the Editor, including performance of all management functions for personnel issues (hiring, retention, coaching, training, performance evaluations, etc.) and providing leadership, strategic vision, and oversight for their work.

Compensation:

• Salary: 90-100k
• Benefits: full package – medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k with up to 10% employer contribution!,14 day vacation + 12 days sick leave annually, plus other perks
• Flexibility: can be fully remote, must reside/work in Washington state

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor
• Active attorney bar license, any state
• Leadership/management experience
• Demonstrated strong legal writing and research skills
