Washington Post Opinions is seeking a lively, curious and detail-oriented editor to join its growing Letters and Community team. The Letters team plays a key role in Post Opinions' daily print report and in The Post's interaction with readers, but this position is also an opportunity for applicants with an interest in finding creative ways to bring new voices into The Post, and to put readers in conversation with each other.

The salary range for this position is:
85,100.00 - 127,700.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.

- Helping manage Letters to the Editor submissions inbox, identifying letters for Free For All and the daily report and spotting trending topics
- Working with Post Opinions' newsletter and live chat teams, as well as with The Post's comments and community product teams to find new sources for letters
- Designing callouts soliciting readers' opinions on a focused topic and curating and editing the responses
- Assisting with the editing and production of the weekly Free For All page
- Depending on the interests of the successful candidate, this position may also involve working with community organizations, teaching letter-writing workshops and engaging with student groups
- Familiarity with and enthusiasm for The Post's Letters to the Editor, including the Free For All section
- Experience in community journalism or working on writing with non-professional writers
- A willingness to experiment and a desire to be part of a small, highly collaborative team
- Intense attention to detail and strong communication skills, both inside and outside of the news room
- Previous work writing headlines and presentation text for print and online copy
- Three years of copy-editing or line editing experience
