About the job

In this customer-facing role, you will use the power of storytelling to support strategic sales and marketing initiatives and assist scientists and engineers in promoting statistical enablement, data literacy, and increased awareness around the power of data. There are two key characteristics that will make you successful in this role: 1) The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and 2) A genuine interest in science.

Key responsibilities

Research and interviewing:

  • Work closely with colleagues to identify scientists and engineers who can share compelling examples of how they use JMP to advance research and innovation.
  • Prepare for interviews by researching customers and reading relevant scientific publications or abstracts.
  • Write thoughtful interview questions that inspire JMP users to speak with passion and authenticity about both their own work and JMP.
  • Help users to understand and quantify the value JMP brings to their organization.

Storytelling and communications:

  • Work closely with customers to capture their experiences in writing or video, ensuring that the stories reflect their successes and the value of JMP.
  • Communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and effectively in the language of the customer.
  • Write short and long-form articles; produce and edit video* stories. (*Note that prior video experience is not required)
  • Be highly detail-oriented and able to efficiently check your own work to avoid errors.
  • Distill insights from a variety of academic and professional sources.

Project management:

  • Own projects from end to end, juggling multiple projects and deadlines at any given time.
  • Communicate and manage customer expectations with transparency and professionalism.
  • Be proactive and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Document progress toward deadlines and enlist help as needed.

Customer relationship management:

  • Be passionate about networking and building rapport with scientists and engineers who use JMP.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for JMP users; build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships.
  • Demonstrate genuine curiosity about JMP users and their work.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Sales to understand sellers reference needs and ensure they have access to the right references at the right time.
  • Work closely with Marketing to create brand-level storytelling that inspires.
  • Partner with Product Management to identify reference-worthy features and align content strategy with JMPs business priorities and product messaging.

Program Operations:

  • Maintain comprehensive reference indexes and other internal resources.
  • Develop new resources and document best practices for Sales and Marketing partners.
  • Ensure that customer references are accurately and efficiently used across the company.

Measurement and Reporting:

  • Review and approve reference profiles and nominations in Salesforce.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness and impact of reference activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for program improvements based on data and feedback.

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelors degree Journalism, English, STEM-related field, or any combination thereof.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in journalism, science communication, or academic research and publications is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated passion for science and engineering.
  • Experience with content management systems, social media platforms, and productivity tools like (e.g., Atlassian platforms) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to travel at least 4 times per year.
