As a writer/editor, you will ensure documentation adheres to government printing office (GPO) style guides and maintains exceptional quality in both English and Spanish.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Bilingual (English/Spanish) Technical Writer/Editor with a strong background in engineering to craft exceptional technical documentation for multiple audiences including scientific and public audiences. As a writer/editor, you will ensure documentation adheres to government printing office (GPO) style guides and maintains exceptional quality in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities:
- Writing:
- Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and product managers to grasp intricate engineering concepts.
- Research and analyze technical information to create user guides, manuals, online help systems, and other technical documents.
- Craft clear, concise, and instructionally sound documents tailored to the needs of a diverse audience, considering both English and Spanish users.
- Editing & Quality Assurance:
- Edit and proofread existing technical documentation in both English and Spanish for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guides.
- Ensure technical content aligns with industry standards and company best practices.
- Maintain style guides and templates to guarantee consistency across all technical documentation.
- Bilingual Expertise:
- Localize existing engineering documentation into Spanish, ensuring cultural sensitivity and technical accuracy.
- Possess a deep understanding of both English and Spanish technical terminology and nuances.
- Technical & Communication Skills:
- Stay informed of current engineering trends and technical writing best practices.
- Utilize local and cloud-based applications and content management systems (CMS) or other relevant tools to publish and manage content effectively.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, SMEs, and other stakeholders.
- Managerial
- Oversee the editing of multiple editors
- Create a unifying voice in all material
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required)
- Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a technical writer and/or editor, with seven years of demonstrated focus on engineering documentation.
- Experience and ability working on large, complex documents (400 pages or more)
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of technical writing principles and GPO style guide.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Superior attention to detail, a commitment to producing high-quality work, and excellent abilities in proofreading.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple subordinate editors.
- Experience with using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with using Adobe Reader and familiar with Adobe InDesign.
- Experience collaborating through a platform like Google Docs.
