JOB TITLE:
Assistant Editor/Copy Desk Chief, Branding Iron newspaper
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide editing, proofing and page design supervision of newspaper copy before publication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Edit all copy prepared for composition.
* Design and paginate pages for newspaper.
* Proof all copy after composition.
* Supervise and direct other copy editors in the completion of the first three duties.
* Meet daily with editor or managing editor for consultation and assignment.
* Maintain regular office hours of not less than 15 hours per week.
* Assign stories and photos to staff as needed.
* Develop weekly budget in collaboration with the editor in chief.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Full-time student
* Minimum 2.5 GPA
* Ability to maintain irregular hours, including evenings 3-9 pm.
* Must be available to attend training Aug. 21 and 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Prior newspaper production, including writing, proofing and editing
* Thorough knowledge of AP style and BI style
* Some prior supervisory experience
