General Description of the Position
Department of Human Ecology at Delaware State University invites applications for a Tenure Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a 9-month position, fulltime position with state employee benefits. The primary responsibilities for this position include mentoring and teaching undergraduate courses and conducting research.
The primary responsibilities for this position include mentoring and teaching at least four (4) undergraduate courses per semester and conducting research and outreach activities. Selected candidate is also expected to seek external funds to support teaching, research and extension programs; build new relationships with industry and the community; assist in curriculum development, review and improvement; participate in student recruitment and in departmental, college and university activities.

Qualification Standards
Education: Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in Fashion Design or closely related field.
Preference will be given to a candidate with five years of industry experience in Fashion/Textiles Design. Candidate must be competent in Fashion or textiles design software such as Optitex. Candidate must be competent in Fashion or textiles design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Optitex: Fashion Design software such as: 2D/3D CAD/CAM, CAD or smart fashion and textile design. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work with diverse students, faculty and families.

- Teach apparel manufacturing, textiles, clothing design and construction courses
- Provide students' skills in Geber CAD, Optitex, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Teach, mentor, and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Conduct research to support teaching program.
- Seek grants and external funds to support teaching program and research activities
- Build new relationships with industry and the community to promote student experiential learning.
- Assist in curriculum development, review and improvement.
- Participate in student recruitment.
- Participate in departmental, college and university activities
