As Senior Graphic Designer for Apparel, you are responsible for the creation, execution, and management of brand-right graphics, prints, and trims for our inline and seasonal product. This role will require a deep understanding of current graphic and print trends, extensive knowledge of embellishment techniques, possess strong collaboration and ideation skills, and have the ability to clearly communicate creative ideas to design leadership, fellow designers, and product managers. This job is based at New Balance headquarters in the Boston area.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Actively research trends, inspiration, print and graphic techniques. Compile seasonal graphic mood boards based on design concepts and keep the team informed of any opportunities that seem relevant for the brand.
  2. Ability to translate insights into authentic narratives and visual storytelling.
  3. Work collaboratively with Design Leadership and respective team members to produce brand-relevant apparel graphics, prints, trims, etc. that reflect New Balance's DNA and standards.
  4. Prepare and deliver effective design presentations (visually and verbally) that sell ideas effectively.
  5. Support the team through the entire graphic process from concept ideation, creation of original designs, development of tech packs, and providing strike-off comments and solutions to the development team.
  6. Communicate regularly with category leads, designers, and product development teams to help problem solve where necessary.
  7. Challenge the status quo to promote innovation in design, production, materials, process, etc.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Apparel Design, or related design field.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of practical experience in a relevant area.
  3. Proficient in sketching, illustration, typography, branding, print and pattern, color theory, and layout.
  4. Versatile in a wide range of graphic and illustration styles.
  5. Strong understanding of print and embellishment techniques for apparel.
  6. Experience in creating repeat prints for development.
  7. Demonstrate flexibility/adaptability while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  8. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  9. High level of initiative & self-motivated.
  10. Able to objectively critique and curate your own work with great attention to detail.
  11. Understanding of garment construction is a plus.
  12. A passion for global streetwear, fashion, and the sportswear industry.
  1. Advanced user in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (CLO3D a plus).

* 3D will be part of this role, an understanding of OR strong desire to learn 3D is key.

Flexible Work Schedule
