ISED + Resource library background:
ISED supports a network of refugee incubator farm programs around the country, and has been creating educational content and training resources since 2015, supported by USDA grants. Our core audiences are refugees and immigrants, although our products are quite useful for instruction to a broad range of small farmers. Mainstream educational resources rely so much on written English. Instead, we have focused on visual materials, oral instruction with interpreters, and materials with content in Plain Language (simplified writing that uses shorter words and sentences to improve understanding).
