World Bicycle Relief uses an innovative business model to create sustainable bicycle ecosystems. Through WBR's 501(c)3, we provide transport solutions to those who cannot afford them, and through Buffalo Bicycle Limited, we sell the rugged Buffalo Bicycle and spare parts. Buffalo Bicycle Limited also offers users repair and maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. WBR has distributed over 780,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 2,500+ community-based mechanics. Girls with Buffalo Bicycles are 19% less likely to drop out of school; dairy farmers earn 23% more income, and health workers reach 88% more patients.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Marketing Associate reports to the Marketing Director and works closely with the entire Marketing team to assist in projects designed to grow revenue and community engagement. The Marketing Associate will be responsible for the strategy and management of peer-to-peer fundraising, event support, marketing campaign assistance and overall donor support. This position requires technical skills to manage a fundraising and event platform, as well as excellent communication skills to nurture World Bicycle Relief supporters.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Peer-to-peer Fundraising

  • Executes strategies to increase revenue through peer-to-peer and community fundraising initiatives.
  • Nurtures relationships with existing fundraisers to foster ongoing engagement and enhance their contributions
  • Acquires new fundraisers to meet specific peer-to-peer fundraising goals
  • Provides essential support to the Fundraising Development team by assisting with inquiries and providing necessary materials.
  • Manages the peer-to-peer fundraising platform, leveraging applicable technologies to serve as the organization's expert on the platform
Events
  • Supports the Events Manager with event registration setup, maintenance and analysis.
  • Identifies potential Chicago area events and conferences that would have a strong ROI and coordinate attendance.
  • Supports the Fundraising & Development team with corporate and employee engagement in support of community events.
Marketing Campaigns
  • Assists the Marketing team with yearly campaign strategy ideation and tactic execution.
  • Oversees and analyzes the recurring giving program to increase recurring revenue and cultivate existing recurring donors through strategic marketing campaigns.
  • Assists in the creation and tracking of physical marketing materials, such as brochures, banners, and other collateral.
  • Runs the WBR online shop, including pricing assessments, new product propositions, inventory management, customer support and analysis of sales data.
Donor Support
  • Manages the support email inboxes and phone line to ensure timely and helpful responses.
  • Responds to inquiries via social media channels.
  • Executes fulfillment of direct mail associated with marketing campaigns or strategies.
Administrative Support
  • Assists with routine website updates, learning the fundamentals of Wordpress.
  • Collaborates on the creation of presentations used for key internal meetings.
  • Assists with volunteer management.
  • Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent of employment and education experience.
  • Minimum one year of work experience in marketing or fundraising.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to navigate customer service related inquiries.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once, while moving each assignment forward seamlessly, effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in using marketing applications and tools.
  • Collaborative team player. Enjoys learning together with teammates and helping others to succeed in their work as well. Brings a collaborative attitude to engaging with other team members and external stakeholders alike.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
