Summary of the Position
The Marketing Manager will support the ideation, development, and execution of the Capital Preparatory Schools network marketing & communications strategy.

Capital Preparatory Schools is a charter school management organization operating a network of educational communities. Our mission is to build a path where there was none. From its inception, the Capital Prep community-our students, parents, faculty, and staff-have come together to create a compelling and meaningful educational experience. Capital Preparatory Schools has five schools: Capital Prep Harlem in Harlem, NY (6-12) Capital Prep Harbor Upper & Lower School in Bridgeport, CT (K-12), and Capital Prep Bronx (6-12) in Co-Op City, NY, Capital Prep New Rochelle, NY (K-12 ultimately) providing scholars with a year-round, college-preparatory education that encourages students to become scholars and lifelong agents of change. Further, Capital Prep Middletown (K-12 ultimately) has been approved by the CT State Department of Education.

- Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC)
- Support DMC in creating overall yearly brand strategy & innovative marketing initiatives to maximize brand awareness and drive engagement with families, donors, community partners, and prospective employees;
- Drive storytelling throughout digital and print channels, pushing positive examples of academic and social-emotional excellence (social media, website, press);
- Develop and manage marketing planning calendars with school leaders, to proactively meet marketing and communications needs that are evergreen throughout the year (i.e lottery process, recruitment, events, breaks, special programs);
- Create a strategy & system to traffic and project manage school marketing requests as they come in, and engage necessary stakeholders as needed;
- Manage social media planning, posting, and appropriate approvals, with the expectation to post at minimum three times per week per school site;
- Work with DMC to identify and train one school onsite social media ambassador to support ad hoc posting throughout the year;
- Support DMC in monitoring all social media channels and engagement as needed and elevate concerns to appropriate school leaders;
- Support management/updating of general website communications areas that are the same across all schools (i.e. mission, history, about us, key stats). Support individual schools who will make day-to-day school-specific updates;
- Provide communications and marketing support for leaders within CPS;
- Support DMC as a subject matter expert in communications in the education industry and of key competitors and make recommendations as needed for communications tools, systems, or story ideas;
- Support DMC with the creation of various marketing materials via Canva (or similar tool), and presentation decks and manage external agencies to develop resources as needed;
- Support new school development and recruitment for scholars & staff;
- Support school leaders or operations staff with event marketing efforts as needed, providing expert guidance on planning & execution;
- Support network and major school events from planning to execution;
- Support DMC on all event planning;
- Support development and procurement of network/school merchandise;
- Provide copy proofing and presentation polishing as needed;
- Support development initiatives as needed including marketing-related materials for prospective donors;
- Assist in the management of ongoing relationships/communication with current partners and funders;
- Coordinate with outside consultants as needed;
- Perform other tasks as requested.

- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in marketing and communications with demonstrated success at an agency or internal brand marketing department preferred.
- Experience with digital marketing and social media, including management tools/platforms (i.e. Hoosuite or similar) a plus.
- Education experience a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Other expectations
Evening and weekend work, including travel. Attendance at board and new school meetings and at school events expected; On site school visits 2-3 per week.
Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000. Additionally, CPS offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, 12 month exempt position, which is vacation eligible.
