Job Title: Scouting & Media Intern - Prep Baseball Tournaments
Location: Cortland, NY
Duration: Memorial Weekend-Early/mid August
Compensation: $200/week; Housing included.

Our scouting and media efforts are designed to highlight rising baseball talent and deliver content to coaches, scouts, and fans.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Scouting & Media Intern to join our team. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in scouting, sports media, and content creation. The intern will work directly with our scouting team to evaluate talent during tournaments while assisting the Lumber Yard staff in creating content that showcases tournament highlights, player performances, and event coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the scouting team in evaluating and recording player performance during tournaments.
- Write player evaluations and scouting reports, highlighting key strengths and accomplishments.
- Help to update player profiles and create content for the view of college coaches and professional scouts.
- Capture and edit video footage of players and games for social media, website, and promotional materials.
- Assist in writing and producing engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), event websites, and newsletters.
- Collaborate with the media team to create articles, blog posts, and other written content related to tournament results, player performances, and team highlights.
- Manage tournament highlight footage, including editing and curating content for various platforms.
- Help with live-streaming and media coverage during events.
- Support the staff in maintaining a strong presence on social media, including real-time updates during tournaments.
- Assist with post-event wrap-ups, including summarizing tournament outcomes, player performances, and event highlights.
- Assist with oversight of our merchandise sales, ordering, etc.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university with a focus on Sports Media, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong passion for baseball and knowledge of the game.
- Graphic Design experience is preferred, our company currently uses Canva.
- Proficient in Google platforms (Docs, Sheets) and general office technology.
- Strong writing skills with an ability to produce engaging, clear, and concise content.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for sports media.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with photography, videography, and photo/video editing software is a plus.
- Previous experience in sports media, scouting, or journalism is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and long hours during tournament weekends.
