How You’ll Make An Impact
The Director, Social Media will lead the strategy, execution, and management of social media channels, with an emphasis on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn, to expand audience reach, increase engagement, and elevate the KCRW brand. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies that align with KCRW’s mission, growing and nurturing social communities, and collaborating across teams to create impactful digital content.
You understand these platforms better than anybody else.
What are shifting audience behaviors? What do people want? What do people share? How do people want to connect?
How does the algorithm work to optimize discovery?
What content is performing well?
The ideal candidate is a creative, data-driven leader with a deep understanding of social media trends and audience behavior across multiple platforms.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Lead and mentor a team of social media associates, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.
Establish clear goals and objectives that align with the organization’s priorities
Set and achieve growth and engagement metrics for each platform, regularly analyzing and adjusting strategies based on performance data.
Provide guidance and support to team members, and empower them by delegating tasks
Address issues and conflicts within the team in a constructive and timely manner
Promote open dialogue and communication, and provide regular feedback to team members
Continuously evaluate and improve team processes and workflows
Manage social team budget.
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, platform updates, and algorithm changes, and proactively incorporate them into strategy.
Keep an eye on other social platforms, including Reddit, Discord, Snap, and emerging social platforms, and recommend, implement and onboard.
Oversee the content calendar for all social platforms, ensuring consistent and timely posts that align with programming, initiatives, and organizational goals.
Work closely with internal content, marketing, membership, and sponsorship teams to ensure all social content and campaigns (organic, paid, sponsored) are on-brand and tailored to each platform.
Guide the development of original content ideas tailored for each platform.
Monitor and manage community interactions and engagement across platforms, fostering positive discussions and addressing comments or concerns.
Analyze social media performance using platform insights and third-party tools to assess KPIs, identify trends, and optimize performance.
Create regular reports for leadership and stakeholders, providing insights into social media performance, audience growth, and engagement metrics.
Develop actionable insights from social data and apply learnings to improve content and engagement strategies.
Be a trusted partner to internal teams, including Marketing, Content, Membership, Sponsorship, and Art, to ensure content and campaigns on social supports larger organizational goals.
Together with the Marketing team, develop and manage paid social media advertising strategies to increase reach, conversion, and brand awareness.
Together with the Content team, develop social content series strategies to increase reach and engagement.
Together with the Membership and Sponsorship teams, develop strategies to increase reach and conversion.
Together with the Art team, develop templates and branding
Ensure all content is consistent with the organization’s tone, voice, and values, adapting the messaging as appropriate for each platform’s unique audience.
Act as a guardian of the brand on social platforms, ensuring any external partnerships or collaborations align with the organization’s mission and editorial standards.
Qualifications:
Deep love for KCRW and our audience. Has a good grasp on our sensibility and taste.
8+ years of experience in social media management, preferably with a focus on digital content strategy and audience growth.
Experience working in media and entertainment.
Proven track record managing social accounts for large organizations or brands across platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Strong understanding of platform-specific trends, algorithms, and best practices.
Experience with social media analytics tools and proven ability to interpret data to drive decisions.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Creative mindset with the ability to brainstorm new ideas and content formats

Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
