The Media Services Specialist performs a variety of professional and technical support services for the District's Communications and Media Services Department including graphic design and layout, website development and design, proofreading, and technical research. Unclassified - $42,000
MAJOR FUNCTION: Oversee the functionality of the website and mobile app, evaluate and manage website
and mobile app performance, ensure accessibility and translation tools; and develop, maintain and update
website and mobile app content. Collaborate with department and school website content managers to
ensure consistency in brand identity and design elements across all webpages. Provide a variety of
professional and technical support services that include poster making, lamination, graphic design, and
branding projects. Promote the District's goal of providing Opportunity, promoting Unity, and celebrating
Excellence through the website, the public access channel, and social media.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential
functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations.
1. Plan, implement, manage, monitor and upgrade the organization's website
2. Align the website with the organization's brand, strategy and standards
3. Oversee the functionality of the website
4. Evaluate and manage website performance
5. Maintain and update website content
6. Maintain ADA accessible design and compliance with ADA regulations
7. Maintain and optimize website translation tools
8. Ensure and maintain search engine optimization
9. Conduct content audits and prepare web traffic metric, ADA compliance, and other reports
10. Create strategies to grow subscriber base and web traffic metrics
11. Collaborate across departments to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy meets the
organization's standards
12. Provide professional development to school and department website content managers
13. Keep up-to-date with industry best practices
14. Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations
15. Implement security measures to protect website
16. Manage pay-per-click and search engine optimization campaigns
17. Identify ways to improve website user experience
18. Reply to, troubleshoot and resolve website issues
19. Assist with campaigns and other marketing efforts
20. Complete tests to ensure website efficiency and quality
21. Coordinate the creation of professional layouts and digital content for marketing materials, publications,
and presentations (e.g. District electronic publications, calendars, course guides, flyers, etc.)
22. Manage end-to-end digital projects
23. Liaise with the Director of Communications and Manager of Media Services regarding content to
ensure brand consistency
24. Maintain current knowledge of relevant software, technology, materials, equipment, and techniques
associated with area of expertise
25. Utilize computer graphic programs to design layouts and illustrate brochures, flyers, publications,
reports, forms, maps, and public presentations
26. Provide poster-making services to schools and departments
27. Provide lamination services to schools and departments
28. Manage the District's public access channel
29. Provide support for special projects and programs (i.e. Brand Ambassadors)
30. Assume any duties assigned by the Director of Communications and/or a department administrator
designee

QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each
primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of
educational achievement, training, skills, and/or ability necessary.
1. A degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification
2. Two (2) years of work experience as a website manager or equivalent
3. Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, InDesign, Google Workspace/Suite, Microsoft Office, and other
productivity applications
4. Demonstrated knowledge of Apple/Mac computers and laptops
5. Meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, good content creation, good design
skills and good writing skills
6. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage several assignments
simultaneously
7. Ability to manage projects from conception to completion, which includes planning projects, assessing
risks and opportunities, creating budgets, communicating with stakeholders, troubleshooting problems,
etc.
8. Ability to be self-directed and to complete essential tasks without direct supervision or oversight
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills
10. Knowledge of website development applications and protocols
11. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle highly sensitive and confidential information while
providing exceptional customer service
12. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
