Salary: $22.00 per hour (Must be available to start on 1/31/2025 or shortly after)

Who we are: Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) is a local, private, non-profit charitable organization dedicated to animal welfare. Our mission is to build healthy relationships between people and animals. PHS/SPCA is an open admission shelter, accepting many pet animals who might be refused at other shelters, and taking care of injured and orphaned native wildlife from San Francisco through San Mateo and the northern half of Santa Clara County. Who you are: You are an enthusiastic social media professional eager to create awareness of Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, its mission, programs, and services by creating social media content and communications. You have strong attention to detail to plan and execute results-oriented social media marketing campaigns. You are organized, thorough, collaborative, and very familiar with various social platforms. This position is expected to be performed on-site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Volunteer and Community Programs Manager with all aspects of social media creation and communications, with a team approach.
  • Collaborate and brainstorm creative ideas and new strategies for communicating with donors, volunteers, adopters, and customers.
  • Act as social lead, including content creation, publishing schedule, engagement, audience growth, and measuring results.
  • Conceptualize, plan and execute results-oriented social media strategy/marketing campaigns with an eye towards developing consistent brand voices and identity.
  • Work with all departments to prioritize content and promotions on a seasonal and ongoing basis, shifting content as needed.
  • Increase both engagement and followers on social media channels through unique approaches.
  • Apply knowledge of analytics, digital media channels, and organizational needs to identify and implement new ways of connecting with and engaging members of the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contacts at Facebook to boost posts.
  • Train and coordinate Social Media Volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Upon hire, must pass a background check.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • High School graduate with 1 to 2 years related experience with social media. The ideal candidate will have worked in a non-profit setting producing creative and interesting content across social media platforms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, digital photography, Meta Business Suite (Facebook and Instagram), X, TikTok, and Canva.
  • Experience with the following is a plus:
    • Photoshop
    • Video Editing
    • Metricool or other social media management tools
    • Chameleon/Case Management System
    • Google analytics and insights for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Yelp
    • Other social media platforms such as Reddit and Threads
  • Deep understanding of how content resonates on different types of social/digital platforms and tools, internet best practices, copywriting, and editorial style guides.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to see a project through from start to finish.
  • Ability to maintain professional work relationships with the public, customers, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Have a sense of humor.
