Reports to the Summit Coordinator. Plans, coordinates and implements music therapy for the restoration, maintenance and promotion of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health for patients. Works as a team member with other wellness practitioners.MISSION, VALUES and SERVICE GOALS

- Evaluating, planning, coordinating and carrying out individual and group music therapy activities. Sets goals and objectives based on patient's abilities.
- Utilizing music therapy with patients for: expression of feelings, thoughts or memories; facilitate mood changes; coping mechanisms; creativity; stress reduction; self-esteem; relaxation; leisure skills/pursuits; expressive movements and guided imagery.
- Honoring and fostering the concept of a holistic approach in the healing process.
- Developing and conducting education programs.
- Making referrals as needed to other practitioners.
- Maintaining case records, including appropriate complete assessments, treatment plans and progress notes in accordance with Hospital requirements and accrediting standards.
- Complying with established Hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Participating in-service training opportunities for staff of Memorial Health System to increase awareness and understanding of integrative healing approaches, as needed.
- Attending in-services and department meetings; also, participating in continuing education and attending conferences as approved.
- Maintaining professional affiliations as appropriate.
- Reading current professional literature and journals.
- Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a bachelor's degree program in Music Therapy or related field, Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of three years clinical experience and credentials as a board-certified music therapist are required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Requires high level knowledge, understanding and experience in the use of music therapy for the enhancement and restoration of patient's functioning.
- Requires analytical skills necessary to assess patient, develop integrative healing treatment plans as necessary and evaluate progress.
- Demonstrates the interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with a diverse group of patients, families, physicians and team members in a professional, courteous, friendly and sincere manner.
- Requires well developed verbal and written communication skills.
