Music Therapist

Trellis Supportive Care is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and highly relational part-time Music Therapist to join our Clinical Support Services team. The Music Therapist works collaboratively with the hospice team to provide music therapy services in homecare and inpatient settings, coordinates program referrals, and supports specialized volunteers. This position offers opportunities to grow as a music therapist and as a leader.

Schedule:

Part-time - Winston Salem, NC and surrounding areas - Consistently 10 to 20 hours per week (option to work more hours at times if available or desired)

The Music Therapist will:

  • Work collaboratively with all members of the hospice team to create an exceptional experience for patients, families, and bereaved individuals.
  • Individualize music therapy services to best meet patient & family needs, across the life span.
  • Coordinate music therapy referrals; work closely with staff therapists, interns and program volunteers.
  • Advocate for complementary therapies services through education and positive collaborations.

Qualifications:

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC).
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical music therapy experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous training and/or experience in hospice music therapy and grief support preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates excellence in music therapy service provision.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.
  • Demonstrates excellent critical thinking, problem solving, documentation, and compassionate interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong written skills, including correct grammar, punctuation, and usage.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle a variety of tasks and assign priorities to those tasks.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to present information to groups and organizations in a professional and organized manner.
  • Ability to establish harmonious working relationships within an interdisciplinary team setting with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, in order to meet agency needs.
