JOB DESCRIPTION
NEG is seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Therapist to conduct weekly group sessions with preschool children with developmental delays and learning disabilities. This role involves creating a supportive and engaging environment through the therapeutic use of music, addressing cognitive, physical, and emotional development. As part of NEG’s mission to improve well-being, you’ll help enhance social interaction, communication skills, and overall developmental progress for children ages 3-5 years.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Plan and implement weekly music therapy sessions tailored to meet the needs of preschool-aged children with developmental delays and learning disabilities.

  • Utilize music-based interventions to support cognitive, sensory, motor, social, and emotional development.

  • Adapt activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for all children, considering each child's unique needs and developmental level.

  • Collaborate with families and other NEG professionals to create individualized goals and adjust therapeutic approaches as necessary.

  • Monitor and document each child’s progress, adjusting the therapy plan as required to meet evolving goals.

  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and staff to share progress and discuss areas for continued development.

  • Comply with all regulatory and ethical standards as well as NEG policies and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy or a related field.

  • Certification as a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children with developmental delays or learning disabilities.

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and familiarity with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, speech delays, and sensory processing disorders.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to engage young children in a dynamic and therapeutic environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Classes will be held weekly at partner locations across our network in the Tri-state area. NEG’s programs are designed to support flexible scheduling, meeting the needs of our diverse partner sites and the unique requirements of the children we serve.
