WFMT (classical music radio station) is looking for a Morning Music Host. The Morning Music Host is a key member of WFMT's on-air team serving in a prominent, public-facing role. The Host brings deep knowledge of classical music and artists and a warm and engaging presentation style to classical music shifts and programs, enhancing and expanding listeners' experience of classical music, and bringing a sense of curiosity, surprise, and delight to WFMT's morning audience. The Host provides relevant and meaningful service elements that address the needs of morning listeners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program, produce, and host all aspects of WFMT's morning shift from 6am to 10am, Monday through Friday - live, and in-person from the WFMT studios - including newscasts, weather forecasts and other topical elements to enhance listeners' morning experience with WFMT.

Participate as assigned in other WFMT programming, which may include special programs, features, artist interviews, on-air shifts, live broadcasts, or nationally syndicated programs produced for the WFMT Radio Network.

Participate in the planning and execution of on-air fundraising.

Create content as assigned for wfmt.com.

Attend and participate in meetings as needed.

Serve as an ambassador for WFMT in the community.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive knowledge of the classical music repertoire, performers, and field, with deep curiosity and passion for the art form.

Ability to create an entertaining, listener-focused mix of classical music that speaks to a radio audience, engages and meets the needs of morning listeners, and promotes growth in audience and time spent listening.

Ability to build audience and community through a warm, personable, engaging, and conversational presentation style that is focused on listeners' enjoyment and personal journey with classical music; fluidity with foreign language pronunciations.

Knowledge of radio broadcast operations, equipment, and best practices, and advanced computer skills and facility with Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive, and audio applications, with strong skill in audio editing. Familiarity with Adobe Audition, MusicMaster, and WideOrbit helpful.

Sound editorial judgement and experience with compiling and editing hourly newscast content from various sources including Associated Press, WTTW News, and other outlets.

Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a wide range of tasks and responsibilities amid multiple overlapping timelines and workflows.
