Job Summary
The School of Music invites applications for Student Teacher Supervisors on an ongoing basis.
Student Teacher Supervisors mentor teacher candidate(s) in their student teaching internship across the state of Illinois. The supervisor is a liaison between ISU and the school district personnel, primarily the cooperating teacher. The supervisor is responsible for observing the student teacher on-site and providing a formal assessment of the teacher candidate's teaching episodes. In addition, the supervisor will review various assignments associated with student teaching. The supervisor is responsible for assigning grades for the student teacher.
The supervisor will be expected to do the following:
1. Complete five visits with the student teacher and the cooperating teacher within the semester.
2. Keep weekly informal communication with the student teacher through phone calls or emails. Also, informal communication with coop as needed.
3. Read and review student teacher's edTPA materials if applicable.
4. Complete formal assessment of observations using School of Music rubric and uploading through LiveText electronic portfolio.

Required Qualifications
1. Degree: Bachelor of Music Education, or related field.
2. Five years of music teaching experience.
3. Ability to support and mentor the student teacher throughout the student teaching experience.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication.
5. High standard of professionalism as a representative of the School of Music and Illinois State University.
6. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree.
2. Experience as cooperating teacher and/or student teacher supervisor.
