Instructors teach college-level courses to transfer and vocational students. They also contribute to the department's efforts to improve student retention and success.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • BA in Music Technology (or related) or equivalent work experience
SKILL IN:
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into teaching Music Technology
  • Demonstrating a sound knowledge of Music Technology in a wide range of levels
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations, including working effectively in both the classroom and other teaching environments and an ability/willingness to teach in more than one area of the program curriculum
  • Contributing to a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written English in a classroom and with other professionals
  • Working/interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Incorporating a variety of creative teaching methods to address different learning styles
  • Relating and inspiring students, ranging from reaching out to those students in need of help to challenging the best students
  • Handling difficult of sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within legal guidelines

Conditions of Employment

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed on a college campus teaching in a classroom setting that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors use computers in the work environment.

  • This position is overtime-exempt.
