DRY CREEK JOINT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
JOB TITLE: Classroom Teacher
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
To develop in the student skills, knowledge, concepts, generalizations, principles, appreciations, and attitudes that will promote fullest possible academic and physical development and assist him/her in valuing the dignity and worth of himself/herself and others. He/she provides within the classroom an educational program for the students and assists in other school programs as required by the building administrator and/or District policy.
SUPERVISOR: Principal
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Assesses initial individual student and class needs.
2. Determines cooperatively with the evaluator appropriate learning objectives for the class, taking into account the District course
of study and the assessed needs of the students.
3. Plans appropriate learning experiences.
4. Provides individual, small group, and class instruction as needed.
5. Creates an atmosphere through personal example and positive relationships with students which inspire a love for learning.
6. Monitors student's progress and evaluates the student's achievement in relation to the agreed-upon learning objectives. Revises learning objectives when necessary.
7. Reports individual student's progress to parents and school personnel through the preparation of reports and/or the holding of conferences.
8. Creates with assistance from students a functional and attractive environment for learning.
9. Maintains professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the District and
self-selected professional growth activities.
10. Performs basic attendance accounting and other clerical services, as necessary.
11. Participates cooperatively with the principal or the designee to identify the areas by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance
with the District's evaluation and assessment forms.
12. Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids and supplies to the extent needed and as approved by the building administrator.
13. Maintains standards of student behavior.
14. Insures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.
15. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
16. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school or on a District level.
17. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates on faculty committees.
18. Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants and other paraprofessionals assigned to him/her.
19. Works cooperatively with staff toward resolution of mutual concerns.
20. Interacts positively with colleagues, employers, parents, and community agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid California credential authorizing service.
MEDICAL CATEGORY I:
Light Physical Effort
1. Normally located in a work environment with light physical qualifications and requirements.
2. Ability to lift 25 lbs. maximum or carry any object weighing up to 15 lbs.

A valid Music or Multiple Subject teaching credential is required.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated music teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching music education to students in grades TK - 5th grade. They will work collaboratively with other staff members to improve and enhance the music instruction program at our school. The position will be split between elementary sites/locations.
