Univision Stations Group, L.P. in San Antonio, TX seeks a full-time Assistant News Director responsible for originating, creating and producing news content for special series, regional news specials and investigative stories that are aligned with the station's values and enhance its brand. Create and implement strategic plans for audience growth and newsroom operations. Leverage news content from the web, OTT, and all social platforms to make sure that local audiences receive and share the stories generated by our newsroom. Analyze and respond to trends affecting the industry and DMA. Develop and plan yearly coverage priorities for all media platforms. Accountable for building capability within the newsroom to think and act digitally in order to generate engaging, compelling and timely content that will result in an increase of our digital footprint and audience growth. Provide editorial direction, leadership, motivation, support and encouragement to staff in the generation of story ideas and production of a compelling news product. Coach reporters and on-air talent and review and critique newscast production values to improve news delivery. Mentor and develop our talented group of journalists into strong storytellers. Supervise and provide regular feedback and yearly performance appraisals for direct reports with ultimate responsibility for all newsroom personnel. Set the department's philosophy and policies in conjunction with the VP of News. Work closely with other Univision entities to create cross-platform opportunities for a trusted and award-winning news brand. Effectively plan a news strategy while coordinating breaking news, weather and large event coverage. Provide services as a news anchor/presenter from time to time, investigating, collecting, analyzing, producing, editing, writing and presenting accurate, balanced news stories. When serving as anchor, will write and proofread copy for accuracy prior to going on air and will line produce from the anchor seat as needed. Will also provide similar services to our sister companies as needed.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications or related field, plus 5 years of experience in the occupation or as a journalist or as a reporter.

Must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish. Must have experience presenting news in television studio. Must have field reporting experience. Must have live news coverage experience. Must be well versed with video editing and production technologies.
