Salary Range: $50,564 – $56,182
What will I do in this position?
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop, plan, and coordinate all community and listener Engagement efforts, including the station’s community outreach events, concerts, contests, on-air promotion, and other station-related initiatives.
- Build active relationships with vendors and community contacts, and in the process, be alert for potential Impact Partner clients.
- Plan and coordinate all Engagement activities including community appearances, remotes, and concerts, with a focus on empowering and equipping the Life 101.9 team to carry out such efforts.
- In collaboration with the Program Director and administrative staff, collect new names for the station database at all community appearances, contests, concerts, and outreach events.
- Develop media relationships within eastern Iowa; issue press releases and promotional materials.
- Develop and nurture relationships with local businesses, ministries, churches, and community groups in an effort to increase the visibility and impact of KNWS in eastern Iowa.
- Host on-air segments providing compelling content for the target demographic within station format guidelines as directed by the Program Director. Daily preparation time is required.
- Maintain a show blog on the Life 101.9 website.
- Voice track weekend shows as assigned.
- Create a friendly & welcoming presence to listeners at assigned events outside the station studios and, at times, outside normal working hours.
- All employees act as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by actively partnering with the University to disciple students in growing intellectually and spiritually, and with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers to mature in their faith.
What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous promotions/event planner experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years previous broadcast experience preferred.
- Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind, and tactful manner.
- Ability to host events and represent the station in a variety of settings.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and attend station events as requested; including some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to plan and execute an entertaining drive time incorporating production elements and promos.
- Ability to respond in a professional manner in time-sensitive situations.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to complete projects accurately within predetermined deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate spiritual truths effectively.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of radio station and FCC rules relating to broadcasting stations.
- Ability to maintain a current driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment.
