As an Associate Public Relations Director, you will play a pivotal role in expanding their integrated communications programs and driving business growth through engaging storytelling and media relations. This position can be located anywhere in North Carolina or South Carolina. You will travel to client sites and office locations in Charleston and/or Charlotte areas on occasion.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate closely with our client's leadership team to develop innovative PR strategies for various accounts.
• Manage client relationships, working closely with internal teams and departments to achieve ongoing success.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to generate positive exposure for our client's business.
• Lead the pitching process, identifying and developing leads for favorable media coverage.
• Develop comprehensive PR plans that align with the client's overall integrated approach, including crisis communications management and escalation policies.
• Enhance the client's industry profile and expand their network by connecting with potential clients.
• Introduce fresh ideas for client initiatives, such as identifying newsworthy events, organizing impactful special events, and implementing influential influencer or content creator programs.
• Develop and manage a robust media database for targeted news release distribution.
• Become a reliable source of information for the media on topics relevant to our client and maintain a strong presence in local communities through professional and civic organizations.
• Work collaboratively with the social media and influencer teams to align content communication planning and execution.
• Provide regular, insightful reports on established KPIs, offering key insights and highlighting potential risks or trends that may impact the client's brand efforts.
• Maintain a positive and proactive attitude towards your responsibilities and contribute ideas to improve team performance.
• Adhere to team policies and procedures, ensuring consistent fulfillment of your role.
• Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy towards clients, colleagues, and guests at all times.
• Review and edit all publicity stories prepared by the agency on behalf of our client.
• Supervise and mentor PR Associates and Managers, supporting the Content Director in facilitating performance reviews.
• Prepare special projects and reports as directed by the position supervisor, President, or CEO.
• Maintain up-to-date proficiency in technology relevant to the daily functions of the public relations department.
• Actively promote Public Relations services to potential new clients, expanding our client's base.
• Work closely with the Content Director and Director of Business Development to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Requirements
- 8-10 years of public relations experience, preferably in a PR agency.
- Experience managing direct reports and overseeing day-to-day operations.
- Ability to handle multiple industry accounts across various verticals such as B2B, Healthcare, Hospitality, Outdoors (hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, etc.), Retail, Finance, and Energy.
- Proficient in integrating influencers into PR planning and proposals.
- Familiarity with PR reporting tools and media search platforms.
- Proven track record of collaborating with internal and external teams in marketing, communications, product, content, growth, and/or HR.
- Exceptional writing skills to create captivating, authentic content that resonates with the target audience.
- Strong initiative, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
