WHO WE ARE:
Charlotte Motor Speedway is one of 11 premiere facilities across the country owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports, LLC. The entertainment complex annually hosts two NASCAR weekends, two NHRA events, World of Outlaws racing, classic car shows and the Southeast's largest drive-through holiday light show, among other events.
After more than six decades of innovative firsts in entertainment and fan engagement, the speedway known as America's Home for Racing continues to be an iconic trailblazer in sports, entertainment and fan amenities.
WHAT THIS FELLOWSHIP ENTAILS:
The Communications fellow will be a vital member of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Communications Team throughout the year.
The fellow will assist in writing press releases, helping coordinate PR events, work and engage with local and national media, along with a variety of motorsports industry stakeholders. This paid fellowship requires the Communications fellow to be on property 25-30 hours each week, with extended hours during event weekends. When not working events, the Communications fellow will assist the team through various public relations/communications projects and assignments. Fellowship Goals:
- Learn the craft of writing media advisories, press releases and media pitches
- Gain practical experience writing press releases, copy points and other communications
- Learn how the Communications Department assists in the execution of promotions for events
- Experience how to pitch a variety of story ideas and events to local, regional and national tv, newspaper, radio and digital outlets
- Help execute event weekend Media Center operations
- Learn day to day logistics of the department and property
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (Communications/Public Relations, Journalism, Sport Management majors preferred)
Skills/Experience
- Strong writing skills with a creative mindset
- Results and detail-oriented
- Innovative thinker and self-starter
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of social media platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)
- High integrity and confidentiality
Work Hours
- Fellows must be able to work an average of 30 hours per week. Extended hours are required on select event weekends.

- April 25-27: NHRA 4-Wide Nationals
- May 23: NC Education Lottery 200
- May 24: BetMGM 300
- May 25: Coca-Cola 600
- Every Monday and Tuesday of June and July: Cook Out Summer Shootout
