Reporter - WHBQ Memphis
Are you driven by a need to find the truth? Do you believe in the power of local journalism? At FOX13 Memphis, we believe in using our powerful voice to benefit our entire community. We are currently seeking an enterprising and energetic reporter. You will join a dynamic newsroom that emphasizes breaking news, daily investigative journalism, and active coverage of severe weather. You will be expected to develop sources and hone your beat to enterprise important journalism daily. Reporters must be adept at using all digital platforms to gather and break stories. The right candidate may also be asked to fill-in anchor.
- Enterprise stories and develop relationships with sources
- Foster strong community relationships
- Remain extremely knowledgeable of all local and national news
- Pitch original local stories with high value
- Execute direction presented in station research
- Creatively craft & present enterprise stories
- Write accurate, grammatically correct scripts
- Adhere to strict newsroom deadlines
- Present stories with dynamic and demonstrative live shots
- Apply station guidelines in using social media
- Fill-in anchor possibilities
- Degree in journalism or related field
- 2 years of reporting experience
- Demonstrate solid news judgment
- Must be a team player willing to collaborate
- Must value a diversity of voices to build strong journalism
- Excel under pressure
- Must be able to carry and operate up to 50 lbs. in gear and camera equipment
- Must have a drivers license and a good driving record
