This role resides within Illumina's eBusiness team that is responsible for content findability, design, user engagement, online conversion and eCommerce adoption on Illumina's marketing website.

As a Sr. SEO Science Writer on the eBusiness team, you'll work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate deeply with web designers, UX designers, content strategists and subject matter experts to manage multiple projects from concept to publication. You will lead the identification, authoring and optimization of new and existing content primarily related to top and mid-funnel educational content for prospective and active Illumina customers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform SEO keyword research on trending genomics related topics
  • Author search engine optimized web copy for new and existing web pages
  • Monitor and report SEO keyword performance and content engagement to internal peers as well as external stakeholders outside the eBusiness team at Illumina
  • Make data driven recommendations to improve marketing web site content
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts including product managers and product marketers to collect content insights in the creation of medical, legal and regulatory approved content
  • Identify and repurpose existing content (PDFs, videos, web pages, publications, etc) into new engaging assets to extend their shelf life
  • Manage multiple projects from concept to publication under tight deadlines and changing conditions, with support from a project management team
  • Author content with adherence to brand, verbal, visual, legal, and regulatory guidelines
  • Learn and apply new tools, processes, and scientific information quickly
  • Give and receive direct feedback


Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in scientific marketing SEO and copywriting
  • Expertise with SEO tools such as Semrush, Moz, Keyword Tool, and Google Search Console
  • Expertise with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, ContentSquare, and Tableau
  • Basic/Intermediate HTML authoring capabilities
  • Advanced degree in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or other life science field
  • Strong presentation skills
  • An online portfolio of writing samples
  • Experience with enterprise content management tools such as Adobe Experience Manager
  • A collaborative and curious mindset
  • Knowledge of scientific terminology, principles, and publishing standards
  • Superior project and time management skills, excellent organization, and unfailing attention to detail and quality
  • Exceptional grammatical, writing, and editorial skills and English proficiency
  • Practical life sciences lab experience preferred
  • Commercial experience in a life sciences company is a plus


The estimated base salary range for the Sr. SEO Science Writer role based in the United States of America is: $96,500 - $144,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
