The Building Science Solutions group specializes in acoustical testing, building enclosure consulting and commissioning, field performance testing, forensic investigations, insurance services, property resilience assessments, sustainability consulting, energy services, and air barrier testing.
Your main role will be to establish the Building Science Solutions team as a prominent leader in the Building Enclosure and Building Science sectors. This involves overseeing staff training, developing technical standards, engaging with industry associations, preparing technical publications, and participating in national industry events. You will work with subject matter experts to drive technical development and innovation in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a nationwide training program for staff at all levels, focusing on Building Enclosure Consulting, including technical, managerial, and leadership topics.
- Conduct virtual and in-person training sessions for regional teams, facilitating knowledge sharing and specialized seminars.
- Collaborate with technical experts to create training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and standardized work processes.
- Work with operational managers to identify and address specific training needs throughout the organization.
- Participate in senior leadership meetings within the Building Science Solutions team.
- Represent the organization in national industry associations and seek leadership roles within these groups.
- Present technical content at national conferences and contribute articles for industry journals or digital platforms.
- Oversee the creation and annual updates of internal technical resources like libraries and databases.
- Manage training and compliance records for the Building Science Solutions division.
- Identify skills gaps and opportunities for innovation in building enclosure and science practices.
- Collaborate with staff on technical issues related to specific projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Over 20 years of experience in building enclosure consulting.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA).
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- Extensive technical knowledge of building enclosures, including waterproofing, air barriers, insulation, cladding, fenestration, roofing systems, and moisture issues like air leakage and vapor migration.
- Significant experience in building consulting, commissioning, forensic investigations, and existing building assessments.
- Strong understanding of building enclosure testing standards and methods.
- Expertise in thermal modeling and hydrothermal analysis for building enclosure systems.
- Proven experience managing financial aspects of operating units, including profit and loss responsibilities.
- Skilled in project management across various project types and sizes.
- Experience drafting scope and fee proposals for potential projects.
- Active participation and good standing in industry associations.
- Experience delivering technical presentations to industry groups, trades, and consulting firms.
- Published author of white papers or articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience managing technical and administrative staff.
- Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
