Job Summary The Technical Director and Production Manager will play a pivotal role in the Fine and Performing Arts Program, overseeing all technical production aspects for theatrical and performance events. This dynamic position combines technical leadership with comprehensive production management, ensuring that all performances meet artistic and educational standards while providing a supportive environment for student engagement and learning.
Job Duties Collaborate with designers, production staff and crew, electricians, carpenters, stage managers, productions assistants, wardrobe personnel, student workers, and the Production Manager of the Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center.
Lead the technical design and execution of all productions, including set, lighting, sound, and media components.
Create and manage the Theatrical season performance and production calendar along with the Coordinators.
Manage the upkeep, inventory, and improvement of technical equipment and facilities (performance spaces and shops).
Ensure all technical operations comply with safety regulations and best practices. A working knowledge of OSHA is a must.
Stay informed about industry trends and innovations, incorporating them into the program and technical practices.
Requested Minimum Qualifications Education: The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited College or University.
Experience: The candidate must have proficiency in lighting, design, sound engineering, set construction, and A/V. The successful candidate must also have experience in reading ground plans and plots to execute the cost out.

Physical demands include the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various settings.
Carpentry knowledge is required for the supervision and building of the production sets.
Electrical knowledge is required for the supervision and ‘building’ of electrical components of productions.
Audio/Visual knowledge is required for the supervision and ‘building’ of A/V components of productions.
Experience in reading ground plans and plots (i.e. electrical & A/V) to execute the cost out.
