01/06/2025Lake Forest High School is looking for an Assistant Technical Director for the Spring Musical (Cinderella) from February 10, 2025 to April 28, 2025.

Description: The sponsor supervises students during regular meetings, will organize approved events throughout the year in order to meet the needs of the club. The sponsor will create, facilitate and manage students through meetings, events, activities or fundraisers. Candidates with sound experience preferred.

GENERAL DUTIES
  • Attends tech crew meetings, show rehearsals, and events on a regular basis.
  • Assists in the promotion of the Musical via posters, fliers, announcements, or social media.
  • Communicates and holds students accountable to a standard of expected behavior.
  • Establishes with the tech director, tech crews long range and short-term goals for the musical production.
  • Plans accordingly for tech crew socials and other activities related to the tech crew.
  • Maintains positive relationships with students, supports our diverse populations, and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner.
  • Provides supervision and safety of students, materials, equipment and facilities.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by administration.
  • Assists the tech director in overseeing the student tech crew with the technical direction of the show.
  • Provides instruction and technical support to the students using safe, industry-standard procedures.
  • Applies working knowledge of sound equipment, light equipment, and various special effects to the production of the show.
SPECIFIC DUTIES TO THIS ROLE:
  • Contribute to building plan for the musical set
  • Collaborate with the musical director(s) to bring the shared vision to life
  • Follow a show calendar in order to ensure all set design needs are met
  • Supports and supervises the student tech crew with the technical direction of the show
  • Providing instruction and technical support to the students using safe, industry-standard procedures
  • Working knowledge of sound equipment, light equipment, and various special effects
  • Designs lighting with student tech crew members and teaches them how to run lights during the show as needed
  • Designs sound and manages microphones with student tech crew members while teaching them how to run sound during the show as needed
  • Communicates sound needs with the orchestra and choir directors in order to maximize sound for the show
  • Assists in set-up for student orchestra music pit
  • Communicates necessary expenditures with supervisor

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  • Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
  • Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
Work Hours: The work hours for this position vary by individual club schedule.
