Amentum is seeking a mid-level experienced **Technical Writer** to join our Springfield, VA team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of technical documents and reports, instruction manuals, and media creation for a broad array of technologies in support of multiple, geographically dispersed departments. This position will require collaboration with technical staff to develop, write, and edit functional descriptions, specifications, special reports, and other customer-driven deliverables and documents.
**Main Responsibilities:**
+ Write, edit, and proofread technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, system documents, and other technical manuals/reports.
+ Document products, services, technology or concepts in a manner that are easily understood and tailored to the intended audience.
+ Create/review technical documents and standard operating procedures covering a wide array of disciplines to include cybersecurity, information technology, operations, security, and administrative/logistics operations.
+ Interface with subject matter experts and project managers to understand product features and capabilities to accurately translate technical information into clear and concise language.
+ Collaborate in-person and via remote communications with project officers, team leaders, functional operators, and various vendors.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Must have a current **Secret clearance** and be eligible to obtain/maintain a **Top-Secret with SCI** clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top-Secret.
+ Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Engineering, or Computer Science with 2+ years of experience.
+ Superb writing and editing skills with proven working experience in technical writing.
+ Strong working knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite
+ Ability to apply critical thinking skills to writing and communication.
+ Very strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Adept in translating technical information into digestible documentation for experts and non-technical audiences alike.
+ Ability to write about technical facts and ideas in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
+ Experience in document management to include creation, manipulation, and file management.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 4+ years of Technical Writer experience.
+ Technical Writing Certification(s).
+ Knowledge of various engineering fields and associated activities.
+ Knowledge of Information Technology methodology/systems.
+ Knowledge of Cybersecurity methodology/systems.
+ Previous experience working in the defense industry and directly supporting DoD customers.
+ Portfolio of previous work highly desired.
**Working Conditions:**
+ This is a non-remote, full-time on-site position.
+ Will require the ability to travel up and down one flight of stairs several times daily.
+ Occasional travel required.
**Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:**
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
