Job Overview:
We are in search of an articulate and detail-oriented Technical Writer who specializes in the creation of test plans and procedures related to our software programs. As part of our development team, the Technical Writer will be instrumental in documenting our software testing processes, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency in test protocols. Your role will support the effectiveness and communication of our Quality Assurance (QA) and software testing efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with software developers, QA engineers, and product managers to understand the product specifications and functionality.
Design, write, and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts that facilitate thorough testing of software features based on technical and user requirements.
Ensure that test documentation is clear and accurate, providing guidance to QA teams and stakeholders on software testing practices and procedures.
Translate technical and complex software testing scenarios into easily understandable documentation for internal use and end-user reference.
Continuously improve test documentation by incorporating feedback from QA testers, development teams, and other stakeholders.
Manage version control and updates to test documents, keeping them current and accessible to relevant team members.
Validate that test procedures meet compliance standards and fulfill the established objectives and user stories.
Contribute to creating and maintaining user manuals, release notes, and other product documentation as needed.
Develop and maintain an organized repository of all test documentation for easy retrieval, archiving, and tracking.
Participate in product development meetings to stay informed of changes that may impact test documentation.
Aid in the review and QA process of product documentation, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to documentation standards.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong portfolio of writing samples and test documentation.
Excellent command of the English language, including technical writing principles and style guides.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA processes.
Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
Experience using documentation tools, version control systems, and software testing tools.
Familiarity with programming languages and software development is highly desirable.
Attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
Certifications in Technical Writing or Quality Assurance.
Working knowledge of API documentation and modern programming frameworks.
