Title: Senior UI Designer Location: Midtown Org Unit: Digital Engagement Services Work Days: Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: Exempt Salary Range: $118,800.00 - $133,100.00 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position Summary Under direction from the Creative Director, the Senior UI Designer is responsible the ideation and execution of elegant and highly-usable solutions to complex data, content or user interface challenges. Efforts will include the evaluation of business, user and technical goals and requirements for the implementation of solutions via IA, design and prototype deliverables. Job Responsibilities Designs visually attractive and highly usable user interfaces, including production of high-fidelity design mockups based in best practice and utilizing the Weill Cornell Medicine design system. Provides recommendations and new ideation on optimal user interfaces and complex IA that utilize modern interaction design concepts and optimize on required UI principles, including accessibility, responsive design and CMS optimization. Creates audience-tailored, intuitive information architectures via sitemaps, wireframes and prototypes that are based on research, analysis and industry best standards. Works closely with development/engineering team members for the efficient progression from prototype through practical execution. Facilitates UI and interaction design discussions with the design & UX team for the brainstorming, prototyping and testing of user interfaces. Shares relevant articles/news/updates from modern trends & optimization techniques for practical application into team efforts regarding web design & IA. Visits forums, online resources & attends relevant training conferences to increase knowledge base. Efficiently and effectively acts on critique and direction from Creative Director. Works with the Senior UX Designer for the optimization of prototype builds that can be efficiently tested and modified. Education Bachelor's Degree in related field Experience Approximately 3-5 years of professional experience in visual design, IA and/or UX of websites. A digital portfolio is required. Experience working in a multi-diciplinary team for collaboration on project-based efforts. Demonstrates experience crafting website and application interfaces with a heavy focus on UI best practice; demonstrated ability to adapt to different design styles and adhere to a brand Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to execute on an architecture or design concept, take creative direction and critique, modify and evolve implementation based on feedback. Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator). Prototyping and wireframing software (Ex: Axure, Balsalmic, InVision, Sketch, Adobe XD). Understanding of modern web and UX design principles in regard to typography, color, information architecture, responsive frameworks, etc. Basic understanding of of how to read and modify CSS style sheets. Strong oral and written communication skills for ability to work with peer team members and clients. Knowledge of Content Management System (CMS) website frameworks (Drupal or Wordpress). Active involvement and familiarity with the global web development community. Familiarity and engagement with tools, trends, standards, and theories within the contemporary UI culture and industry. Licenses and Certifications Working Conditions/Physical Demands Ability to work off-hours and weekends for go-lives, testing and emergencies is required. Light travel between office locations, primarily within NYC is required.
