As a Principal UX Researcher, you are a customer-obsessed leader who is deeply curious and constantly strives to ask better questions. You are adept at leveraging a range of research methods to understand the current state as well as uncover future customer needs and opportunities. You define research strategy and lead high-impact initiatives where the product and business strategy is highly complex. With a keen eye for adapting existing methods and creating new research frameworks, you provide critical insights that influence end-to-end customer experience and long-term business strategy.


Key job responsibilities

  1. Asking better questions to define WW Prime research strategy and own the research roadmap in partnership with the research team and cross-functional partners.
  2. Lead complex, high-impact research initiatives where the future product strategy has yet to be defined, and apply the research to a strategy that benefits the business and customers.
  3. Adapt and create new user research methodologies to meet the unique needs of your product(s) or business goals.
  4. Mentor researchers, empowering their growth and development.
  5. Define prioritization criteria and measurement frameworks for the research you conduct.

A day in the life

  1. Leads user research that influences end-to-end customer experience and impacts the long-term business strategy.
  2. Advocates for inclusive and diverse products that serve all types of customers.
  3. Partners on significantly complex research studies to identify customer segments and latent needs across teams.
  4. Brings clarity to complexity, probes assumptions, illuminates pitfalls, and fosters shared understanding of customer needs.
  5. Communicates pragmatically, balancing business and customer needs, and asking the hard questions.
  6. Helps the organization move quickly, experiment and learn. Shows high judgment in driving executive-level escalations, and leads with grit and optimism.

About the team

The Amazon Prime UX Design team is at the heart of the Prime membership. We innovate and design on behalf of our customers and are relentlessly focused on improving the membership experience to delight customers around the globe. To accomplish that, we are seeking a Principal UX Designer to join our growing team and help lead, define, and improve the end-to-end Prime CX. Prime UX researchers and designers work with global Product, Marketing, Branding, Science, and Tech team partners, to deliver compelling customer experiences for Amazon.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 10+ years of experience conducting UX research on products and working in close partnership with executive leadership.
  2. Deep technical proficiency in different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.
  3. Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  4. Experience communicating user research findings with senior cross-functional partners to drive impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Track record of driving positive customer impact on large-scale products through a deep understanding of customers, their needs, the business landscape, product functionality, and technologies.
  2. Experience in a variety of product spaces, with a bonus for shopping and membership.
