Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Senior Designer – UX will help lead the design and definition as a key contributor to United’s Core UX team, responsible for integrating human-centered practices in unpacking and improving the digital customer experience across all stages of the travel journey. The Core UX team supports defining United’s digital product strategy and providing the leadership to complete that strategy with the help of cross-functional portfolio teams. We’re looking for an empathic, passionate curious designer who celebrates delivering high-quality solutions and thrives for innovation in a collaborative environment.
- Create sketches, prototypes, wireframes, screen-flow diagrams & UI specs for testing and development
- Rapidly iterate on design prototypes and working applications
- Thoughtfully articulate design decisions and rationale
- Design direction should be based on the overall product roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles
- Collect and apply qualitative and quantitative data from usability tests and business analytics to make value-driven design decisions
- Assist with QA to ensure designs are implemented accurately and with the highest standard
- Assist with validating and measuring user experience success via usability testing and post deployment evaluations
- Provide guidance and mentor junior designers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred (Human-Computer Interaction, information design, communications, Computer Systems, etc.)
- Portfolio examples of sketches, workflows, interactions, and end state work
- Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
- 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design
- Proficiency using UX and prototyping tools (Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, etc.)
- Experience with WCAG accessibility standards
- Proven effectiveness in working as a member in cross-functional teams which include business analysts, designers, researchers, developers, and product owners
- Experience with Agile and/or lean philosophy and methods
- Design experience for both web and mobile
- Ability to create wireframes as well as visual design comps
- A user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude and be able to work effectively in a team
- Strong sense of accountability and drive to get results
- High attention to detail but able to work quickly to meet deadlines
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
- Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
