We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead UX Designer who excels at strategy, execution, and innovation. This person will also need experience leading design sprints and managing a team. The ideal candidate will have an obsession for creating solutions that address customer needs and will have experience creating engaging and compelling digital products across all surfaces including mobile, desktop and other devices.

As Lead UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the interface, interactions, and overall user journey to ensure an intuitive and engaging experience. You will be a player-coach leading a small team of experienced designers working closely with product managers, developers, and researchers to translate customer needs and business objectives into impactful design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end UX design process from strategic planning to execution, including ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design, ensuring seamless experiences across all screens and devices.
  • Facilitate and lead design sprints to rapidly ideate and prototype solutions, fostering creativity and innovation within the team.
  • Define and maintain a cohesive design strategy and vision aligned with the company’s goals and user needs.
  • Drive innovation through exploring new design concepts, emerging technologies, and industry trends to enhance the product’s competitive edge.
  • Participate in developing objectives for user research, usability testing, and gathering feedback to continuously iterate and enhance the user experience.
  • Utilize actionable data to inform design decisions and optimize the user journey, ensuring personalized, engaging, and impactful experiences.
  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to prioritize features and deliverables based on user insights and technical feasibility.
  • Mentor and provide guidance for designers reporting to you, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX design, and advocate for their integration into our product roadmap.
  • Leverage experience with social media applications to integrate social features seamlessly into the user experience, enhancing engagement and user interaction.

Qualifications:

  • A track record of success and experience in design and human-computer interaction.
  • Seven years or more of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or lead role.
  • Experience leading design sprints and managing a team of designers, demonstrated through successful project outcomes.
  • Experience supporting the development of junior designers, providing mentorship, guidance, and feedback.
  • Obsession with customer needs and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Ability to gather and analyze actionable user data to inform design decisions and optimize the user experience.
  • Expertise in design strategy, execution, and innovation, demonstrated through a strong portfolio showcasing a range of UX design projects across various screens and devices.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with researchers to gather actionable data to gain insight that informs design decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Passion for empowering users through technology and a genuine interest in helping people explore and navigate their career journeys.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating engaging applications with aggressive goals around user growth, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Experience designing educational, career development or job placement applications is a plus.
  • Experience integrating accessibility into digital products.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is virtual and open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $113,073.75 – $250,819.20. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
