Position Summary
The Senior Experience Designer will advocate for the end user throughout the product lifecycle by using the human-centered and participatory methods of service design and design thinking to identify unmet member, team member, prospect, and organizational needs. They will work with cross-functional teams to create or evolve experience strategies and execute experience design to best meet those needs across channels and touchpoints. The Senior Experience Designer is an integral team member who may lead, work collaboratively, or work independently through each phase of the project with other designers, business partners, and end users.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Innovation/Transformation – Work directly with product owners and business architects to establish a vision and turn that vision into capability and product roadmaps. Lead requirements gathering and ideation sessions, translate into potential experiences, and document as storyboards, customer journeys, pilots etc.
- Discovery - Explore current state and opportunities via user research, as-is process review, analytics, consumer trends, and competitive assessment. Balance addressing specific needs of a project and how the work should fit in to the company ecosystem and our customers’ lives. Create and validate hypotheses with prototype development and iterative testing.
- Definition - Turn the high-level project scope into an actionable plan through the gathering of business and user requirements, creating high-level user flows, concepts, testing with users. Ensure consistency across consumer journey and touchpoints.
- Design/Delivery - Conduct the work and mentor product, technology, and marketing teams in understanding and executing against the experience strategies, project definition, and product roadmap. Ensure adherence to project scope and the established patterns and design language.
- Optimization – Work with product and marketing teams to review analytics and user feedback to generate new projects and product enhancements.
- Thought Leadership/Subject Matter Expertise - Be an expert in one or more subject areas and own responsibility to establish and drive best practices and education around that subject. Be a champion for new ideas and methodologies around that subject and process.
- People Management - Leading people either indirectly, as a lead for project/products, or directly by leading a team of designer across multiple projects/products.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- 5 to 10 years of related work experience
- Strong communicator – able to interview and extract business goals versus prescribed solutions
- Advocate and mentor other designers and the organization at large on experience design, user-centered design philosophy, and best practices (i.e. patterns, design systems, accessibility)
- Be expert in the channel(s) you will be designing, including all ancillary skillsets to deliver not just good, but functional design (accessibility, responsive, native mobile, content management systems).
- Solution-oriented mindset – creative use of technology and alternative approaches. “No” is not in your vocabulary
- Directly work on or have visibility to numerous programs and projects to ensure excellence in our experiences
Preferred Requirements
Additional skills (i.e. visual design, front end development, marketing, quality assurance, SEO, copywriting, business analysis) are nice to have, but may be must have depending on the product team(s) this role supports
Pay
This is a salaried position starting at $136,000.00 and pays up to $187,000.00, based on experience and qualifications.Benefits
