Job Description
Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of inspection functions on complex, critical castings to ensure conformance of casting and materials to customer requirements in accordance with quality standards. Ensure that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Objective: To set up and inspect parts for visual and dimensional compliance using complex fixtures and gauging conforming to visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.
Essential Job Functions:
* Basic Computer knowledge.
* Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation.
* Perform visual and dimensional inspection of patterns per part. On the job training provided.
* Perform complex setups of inspection equipment to implement inspection or calibrate equipment.
* Inspect parts for dimensional compliance using complex fixtures and gauging, such as height gages, dial indicators, "snap gauges", profilometers, etc.
* Transport castings into and out of inspection area.
* Demonstrate proper procedures for signing off travelers, filling out department slips, labor vouchers, and any other department documents and demonstrate a high rate of accuracy in completing all required documents, including scrap/rework tickets, PCAR's, DCAR's, travelers, and daily "WIP" reports.
* Assist other inspection personnel as may be required.
* Report any discrepancies or out of tolerance condition to inspection supervisor and prepare corrective action requests as required.
* Read and interpret all manner of inspection gauging and fixtures and capable of setup work.
* Verify and use check fixtures and measuring instruments with a current calibration sticker.
* Able to read and interpret drawings and specifications and complete training courses in inspection techniques.
* Able to pass visual acuity and any other required tests to meet position requirements.
* Can recognize and communicate production problems to supervisor.
* Demonstrate safe and efficient handling of all tools, dies, equipment and forklift if applicable, to prevent damage.
* Will be Able to describe the tolerances for the quality Grades A?D and demonstrate the use of the following devices to verify those tolerances and simple dimensions.
* Calipers D. Feeler Gauge
* Micrometers E. Surface Comparator
* Straight Edge F. QS 4.0 Inspection Standard
* Will recognize and record accurately the types of defects that occur in casting processes.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the system in the preparation of a final inspection technique card using the shop traveler, basic blueprints, and explain revision control.
* Must pass a Visual/Dimensional written exam. Recertify every 3 years.
* Adjust equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
* Demonstrate good eye hand coordination.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed.
* Access main computer system to find location of tools and fixtures.
* Work safely when lifting, use transport devises and get help on larger tools to bring tool to workstation.
* Using various hand tools check and inspect tools and fixtures.
* Using various hand tools mount tools and fixtures and set up machine for operation.
* Verify part dimensions against documentation and all parameters on paperwork.
* Return tools and fixtures to proper storage location after cleaning.
* Must Adhere to plant and department safety rules. Identify and report safety problems and areas for improvement.
* Safely operate all equipment and tools.
* Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
* Must be able to lift 35lbs.
* Other tasks and Duties as assigned.
Pay Rate - Starting at $18.00/hour
