**This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week on-site, and 1-2 days per week remote.**

Create and maintain attractive, dynamic, interactive websites and digital tools.

This role would work across our 3 main websites (and related microsites):
•Vcuhealth.org
•Chrichmond.org
•Masseycancercenter.org

Focus on front-end development for our content management system (CMS) and work collaboratively with digital and marketing team members, designers, university web services and external partners to produce and present current, relevant web presence.

Essential Job Statements

Projects and tasks for this role include, but not limited to:
  • Managing content types in Terminal Four
  • Web accessibility
  • Fix broken links
  • Review & manage domains
  • Liaise / communicate with VCUHS IT, VCU Technical Services and other stakeholders
  • Create online training documentation; lead some aspects of training our user groups
  • Manage redirects
  • Assist with web organization and governance
  • Lead web development of new content types and/or functionality example could be need to improve Provider Directory function and implement improvements to that directory enabling the patient to find a Provider more easily by type and location.
  • Assist with assigned tickets - including bug fixes, troubleshooting issues and working with web vendors and partners
  • Work with team to refresh content sections and microsites as needed
  • Manage complex edits with a thorough understanding of HTML. Examples include div classes (updates that require development skills tag in HTML elements that group other pages together, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS),)
  • Manage user groups and access set up
  • Work closely with VCU web users' group; attend meetings and implement updates, version releases across all sites
  • May lead projects related to website refreshes or overhauls

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in related field such as communications, marketing, public relations, web administration, computer science/information systems, business.

Minimum Qualifications

Years and Type of Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in front-end web design and development technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Experience with content management systems (Terminalfour, Wordpress, Joomla, for example).

Experience Preferred: All of the above plus: 5+ years of experience in front-end website design and development technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Back-end web development experience (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Python). Understanding of version control and modern development technologies/workflows (Git, Node.js/NPM, Webpack, Gulp, SASS/PostCSS, REST APIs). Experience with Javascript frameworks (React/Preact, Vue, Svelte). Understanding of web accessibility standards and technologies (WCAG, WAI-ARIA). Experience working within a healthcare environment.
