SERVICE WRITER
A service writer is a trusted liaison between client and service technicians. They are the first person our customers think of when they have an automotive issue, and the first person our clients see every time they walk into our facility to make an investment in their vehicle. A service writer is a dedicated team member that works to maintain a positive, well organized, successful team of service technicians. They are part administrative, and all customer service. The job structure is to drive the business into the shop through investigating client needs, scheduling the show flow, and creating a client base that returns happy and for life.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts for all time on their time card
  • Open & closes the shop per opening/closing practices
  • Can handle day to day paperwork flow
  • Maintain lobby cleanliness & needs
  • Ability to safely operate all shop equipment
  • Scheduling of clients
  • Maintaining a current customer data base
  • Handling customer complaints and concerns
  • Handles cash/credit/check transactions thru the day
  • Achieving shop goals IE: sales, vehicle count, and other varying needs of the business
  • Writes up, advises, and sells technicians work
  • Be aware of, and track, "comebacks" and make sure the problem is corrected to the customer per our satisfaction
  • Have friendly, and strong phone skills
  • Treat all clients and team member with courteous, and friendly, attitudes

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Must have outgoing, friendly personality and superior communication & customer service skills
  • Experience working in a service department or automotive shop
  • Ability to write, and work, on routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to negotiate customer complaints to a satisfactory resolution
  • Experience with common point of sale computer systems
  • Good computer skills
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Good organizational ability
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
