Kalman & Company’s Business Analytics team seeks an experienced DoD Technical Writer. to join our growing team serving Federal and DoD clients. As part of our team, you’ll provide our Government clients with strategic programming, planning, and advisory support services. This position supports Fort Meade, MD and onsite work is required. This is tied to a contract award targeted in the first quarter of 2025. The salary range for this role is $80K/yr-$100K/yr.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop IT-related technical white papers, briefings, Business Case Analyses (BCAs), Course of Action briefings, Congressional Briefs, and other analysis documents and presentations to portray and communicate strategic messages to Senior Leaders, stakeholders, and customers.
- Report cost, schedule, and performance issues to senior leadership, including technical matters, issues, and accomplishments.
- Support Integrated Project Teams and other forums as needed to support organization objectives.
- Develop and coordinate reports, action items, briefing charts, etc.
- Deliver quality deliverables that are technically and professionally constructed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- US Citizenship is required.
- An Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technical writer for defense, intelligence, or civil agency programs.
- Expertise in technical writing and editing, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to create and maintain a variety of documentation, including user manuals, standard operating procedures, training guides, system specifications, and technical reports.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro and other industry-standard technical writing tools.
- Demonstrated experience in creating visually appealing and well-organized documents, including integrating diagrams, charts, and illustrations.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, developers, and subject matter experts to gather technical specifications and ensure document accuracy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure all documentation aligns with Government and DoD standards for clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for Government or DoD projects, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and security protocols.
- Ability to gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to improve documentation quality and usability.
