Job Description
Overview
CTG is seeking to fill a Procedure Writer I opening for our client in Richland, WA.
Location: Richland, WA
Duration: 12 months
Duties:
- Develop, review, revise, and maintain Maintenance, Administrative, and other station procedures; ensure that they are technically correct and in accordance with human factor principles.
- Ensure documents comply with station and regulatory requirements and commitments.
- Interpret complex tasks, drawings, manuals, instructions, guidelines, and requirements and convert them to an easily understandable sequence of steps to be used by personnel and contractors.
- Participate as part of the team to improve station performance.
Principal Accountabilities
Technical:
- Create and revise station Maintenance, Administrative, and other station procedures.
- Implement recommendations from Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other station organizations.
- Ensure station procedures comply with and implement the requirements of License Bases Documents (including Columbia Generating Station’s Technical Specifications, ODCM, LCS, and FSAR).
- Ensure station procedures are consistent with source documents (station drawings, vendor manuals, License Bases Documents, state, and federal codes, etc.).
- Ensure changes are consistent with ALARA, chemical, environmental, and industrial safety requirements and practices.
- Prepare and implement Procedure Change Notices.
- Provide technical expertise on procedure issues.
- Resolve procedure issues with reviewers.
- Develop test methodologies to ensure compliance with standards, requirements, and commitments.
- Assist Engineering to determine correct operation and testing of systems.
- Select appropriate test equipment consistent with engineering calculations and manufacturer’s requirements.
- Incorporate FAO and OER recommendations.
- Review design changes for procedural impact.
Administrative:
- Ensure station documents comply with administrative requirements of the Sitewide PRO series.
- Disposition and implement CAP corrective actions and other action items as assigned.
- Support planned and forced outages.
- Develop and revise procedures in support of other organizations.
- Serve as a Qualified Procedure Reviewer.
- Represent the Maintenance Department during review processes.
- Recommend and implement changes to administrative processes.
- Coordinate with customers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of products.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university AND three years of experience at a commercial nuclear power plant, two of which must be in operations and/or include procedure writing.
OR - High school diploma or GED and six years of experience at a commercial nuclear power plant, two of which must be in operations, Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field.
Desired Education and Experience
- Previous RO or SRO license.

- Nuclear power plant systems and components.
- Technical skills commensurate with associated discipline.
- Good written and oral communication and social skills. Ability to understand opposing views.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Ability to visualize, analyze, and comprehend situations.
- Ability to interpret complex tasks, drawings, manuals, instructions, guidelines, and requirements and convert them to an easily understandable sequence of steps.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and under schedule pressures and changing priorities.
- Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team to formulate solutions to complex issues.
Desired abilities and skills
- CGS procedures and standard practices, including ALARA, Industry Safety, Environmental Management System, Chemical Program, and Security.
- Station License Bases Documents.
- SWP-PRO-03, Procedure Writer’s Manual.
- Computer and software skills – Passport, MSWord, Plant Tracking Log, and other Columbia Generating Station databases.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $91,000 to $124,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
