Nature and Scope of Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer with expertise in ISO 27001 standards to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information security management systems (ISMS), technical documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Policy and Procedure Development:
  • Draft, update, and maintain policies and procedures to align with ISO 27001 controls.
  • Ensure documentation meets compliance requirements while being user-friendly and easily understandable by various stakeholders.
  • Compliance Alignment:
  • Analyze existing policies and procedures to identify gaps against ISO 27001 standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operational practices with ISO 27001 controls.
  • Documentation Review and Revision:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of organizational documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Recommend and implement changes to enhance clarity and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with IT, security, legal, and compliance teams to gather input and validate policy requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to clarify control requirements and their practical applications.
  • Audit Preparation and Support:
  • Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits related to ISO 27001 certification.
  • Provide clear, well-organized documents that demonstrate compliance with ISO 27001 controls.
  • Knowledge Management:
  • Maintain a centralized repository for ISO 27001-related documentation.
  • Ensure all stakeholders have access to the latest versions of policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a technical writer with a focus on information security, compliance, or ISO standards.
  • Hands-on experience in aligning policies and procedures with ISO 27001 controls.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a focus on technical accuracy and clarity.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 27001 standards, controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise documentation.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as MS Office Suite, Confluence, or other similar platforms.
  • Certifications: ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality and compliance.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Compensation

Salary/Hourly Rate Range (W2): USD 75.00 - 85.00

The base salary/hourly rate range represents the anticipated low and high end of the USDM's compensation range for this position. Actual salaries/hourly rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on market survey data or budget.

Full-time employees are eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability, hospital indemnity, accident, and critical care coverage.

Both full and part-time employees, who are at least 21 years of age, are eligible to participate in USDM's 401k plan. Full and part-time employees may be eligible for paid time off.
