Summary:

  • Experience in writing technical military doctrine in accordance with AR 25-50 & TRADOC regulations.
  • Confident self-starter with professional publications including technical documentations, journals, magazines, or other published work.
  • Strong methodical process conducting research on subject matter and an engaging capability in networking with Subject Matter Experts.

Salary: $90,000 to $105,000 annually, based on experience and credentials. Full suite of comprehensive benefits offered (Insurance, PTO, 401-K, Performance Bonus, and more).


Work Location: On-site at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA (must be able to commute 5 days a week).


Role Description:

The Doctrine Writer provides technical and doctrine publication work for the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCOE). The Doctrine Writer performs services in doctrine writing and the development of army techniques publications, field manuals, and joint publications. The Doctrine Writer is responsible for reviewing, editing, and conducting research on other army doctrinal and technical publications.


Skills:

  1. High-performing technical editing skills (preferred experience in TR 25-36, the TRADOC Doctrine Publication Program).
  2. Clean, clear, and concise writing skills in accordance with AR 25-50, Preparing and Managing Correspondence.
  3. Strong initiative and writing confidence with effective oral, editorial, and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated skills in writing, creating, editing, and proofreading military doctrine, including government publications.
  5. Effective networking skills in multi-functional domains, forming and managing workgroups composed of government, civilian, active duty, and contractor subject matter experts.
  6. Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of doctrinal publications.
  7. Proficient in conducting research and analysis on doctrine publications to ensure doctrine remains relevant, current, and synchronized across the organization.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Programs.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Two (2) years of experience writing and editing military doctrine publications.
  2. Five (5) years of experience, within the past ten (10) years, serving in operational military sustainment assignments (military or civilian).
  3. Served on staff assignment at the Brigade or a higher-level echelon (preferred operational Army sustainment experience in a Sustainment or Division Sustainment Brigade or higher level sustainment staff TSC or ESC).
  4. Minimum requirement of an Associate degree (Bachelor degree or higher preferred or a Certificate of Completion from the Doctrine Developers course or a Doctrine Developers Additional Skills Identifier (ASI)).

Work Authorization & Security Clearance
Must be authorized to legally work within the United States of America and ability to obtain the required clearance to meet facility access requirements.
