In addition, you will contribute to the development and documentation of security policies, ensuring that all materials align with DOD standards and compliance requirements.

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation and manuals for various defense-related projects and systems. In addition, you will contribute to the development and documentation of security policies, ensuring that all materials align with DOD standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, write, edit, and proofread technical documents, including user manuals, system documentation, reports, procedures, and security policies.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
- Organize and present complex information in a clear, concise, and structured format suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop and document security policies, ensuring they meet DOD regulations, standards, and specifications.
- Manage documentation version control and updates in accordance with project milestones and changes.
- Conduct reviews and audits of existing documentation to identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with project teams to understand project requirements, deadlines, and security policy needs.
- Adapt documentation style and tone based on the intended audience and purpose.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a defense or government contracting environment.
- Experience in writing and documenting security policies, with a strong understanding of DOD security standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other documentation tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Confluence).
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex technical and security information into clear and concise documentation.
- Familiarity with document version control systems and best practices.
- Understanding of DOD documentation standards, security compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Experience with creating documentation for software applications, IT systems, or engineering projects.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and documentation practices.
- Familiarity with graphics and multimedia tools for creating visuals and diagrams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
