Job Overview:

The Creative Art Therapy & Wellness department outlines its programming focus and priorities in alignment with the Behavioral Medicine department, adhering to the established standards of Creative Art Therapy (CAT) and Therapeutic Recreation (TR) practices. It fosters effective and meaningful patient services, promoting creativity and high-quality performance in CATW roles. Additionally, it ensures open lines of communication and cultivates positive relationships with the multidisciplinary team within the Behavioral Medicine department and the broader hospital community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the creation and upkeep of job specifications, descriptions, and scheduling for the Creative Arts & Wellness team.
  • Facilitates ongoing education and professional growth through experiential learning and case presentations by staff. Organizes in-service training sessions on relevant topics as they emerge.
  • Cultivates and sustains partnerships with training programs to support student placements for clinical internships, providing essential supervision.
  • Compiles an annual report and shares insights with the Behavioral Medicine Interdisciplinary Performance Improvement committee.
  • Maintains comprehensive staff credential files and coordinates mandatory in-service training sessions.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations. Develops and implements continuous treatment programs for patients, proactively identifying and addressing programmatic needs.
  • Engages in program development alongside Department Heads and Service Chiefs from various disciplines, collaborating on the therapeutic components of patient care.
  • Plans and drafts the annual budget for the Creative Arts Therapy & Wellness department, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints while being mindful of costs and efficiency.
  • Creates, executes, and sustains wellness initiatives, workshops, screenings, and activities aimed at enhancing employee health, productivity, and morale.
  • Distributes educational resources on health-related topics, including smoking cessation, stress management, nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
  • Completes all required annual training as mandated by the Department of Health, Joint Commission, and other credentialing organizations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a creative art therapy related field (Music Therapy, Art Therapy, etc.) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required; preferably in a behavioral health care setting.
  • A combination of bachelor's degree and greater experience may be considered.
  • Professional Certification, Licensure or Registration in related filed (i.e. Music Therapist, Registered Art Therapist, Wellness Certification, etc.) strongly desired
  • Previous management experience desired.
  • Bilingual/Bicultural and CPR Certification desirable.
