Music Adjunct

The Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts at Western New England University invites applications to fill an opening for Adjunct Professor of Music in the fall 2024 semester.

The department seeks a candidate who can teach at least one section of an introductory music course (MUS 101, Introduction to Music) and a section of an introductory course focused on fundamental techniques of singing (MUS 102, The Art of Singing). The courses are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. and must be taught in person on Western New England's campus. Both courses are oriented toward first-year students who do not necessarily have any knowledge of music or experience with singing. The ideal candidate will have at least a Master's degree in music; five years' experience teaching music to undergraduate students; and proficiency with voice, keyboard, and at least one other musical instrument.

The successful candidate will also need to craft a syllabus for each course that addresses the learning objectives associated with the university's aesthetic general university requirement, which will be assessed during the 2024-25 academic year.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have, atminimum, a Master's degree with at least five years of experience in teachingmusic at the post-secondary level.
