Description

Bloomsbury Academic is looking for an Associate Publicist to join our growing marketing and publicity department. The ideal candidate will have two years of publicity, marketing, or publishing experience.

This role will focus on supporting the publicity team in creating media lists, crafting press materials, working with traditional and new media outlets, and communicating with authors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collaborating with publicity, media, social media influencers, and supporting the publicity team in their efforts to promote lead titles. A key deliverable of this role to create and contribute to impactful and timely publicity campaigns that grow sales and support our authors in building their online presence and public visibility.

This role reports to the Publicity Manager in the Bloomsbury Academic group and supports the publicity team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily operations and manage administrative functions of the publicity department
  • Under the supervision of the publicity manager, support book launches, send out review copies, and contribute to overall plans to garner media coverage for authors and books across podcasts, social, digital, print, broadcast, radio, and traditional media.
  • Provide general administrative support to the department, including print and digital galleys, submissions to the trade press, and tracking calls for information
  • Assists publicity staff as needed with priority publicity campaigns
  • Upload and organize files to Edelweiss and NetGalley
  • Research and seek out new media outlets for promotion and coverage of our titles
  • Assist lead publicists as needed across multiple divisions on all aspects of media campaigns
  • Pitch ideas and suggestions and strategies during internal strategy calls and other regular internal touch points
  • Research media outlets as needed for assigned projects and titles
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with key in-house departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Editorial to ensure awareness of current and future publicity campaigns.


Requirements

  • Two years of publicity, marketing, or publishing experience
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills
  • Ability to write impactful copy, such as pitch letters, interview questions, and press releases
  • Effective presentation skills and communication in both internal and external situations
  • Adaptability and ability to learn and use new systems, like Microsoft Office and Biblio

Location

All candidates must reside within travel distance of the Maryland or New York offices on a hybrid-remote schedule.

Compensation

The anticipated gross base range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience and location.

Candidates working out of the New York office may anticipate an annualized salary of $51,000 - $53,000.

Candidates working out of the Maryland may anticipate an annualized salary of $41,000 - $44,000.

Salary Description

$41,000 - $53,000/yr
