About the role:
Cond Nast is looking for a VP of Product Management for our Publishing Platform. The role requires a minimum of 7-10 years experience building consumer and internal facing products including: editorial content management systems tools, front end design systems and architectures, search engine optimization, content distribution and syndication, and taxonomy/tagging solutions.
These custom-built solutions serve 3 distinct customers globally: editors, end users, and internal product, design and engineering teams. The overall remit will encompass:
- Supporting our editors in creating, curating, and syndicating world class content experiences using content management systems and content APIs.
- Facilitating product, design, and engineering teams in building functionality that integrates with or extends our CMS and front-end systems.
- Standardizing functionality and implementing governance best practices in order to surface additional commercial capacity and allow us to move faster as a technology organization.
Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks and improving deployment pipeline efficiency is essential.
The VP of Product Management will oversee products serving internal cross-functional teams, editors, business analysts, and partnership strategists. This position will guide the direction of our future architectures that power our full content lifecycle, from PLAN, CREATE, PACKAGE, DISTRIBUTE to GLOBALLY ENABLE. Each of these areas will be staffed with distinct teams under this person's direction.
This role reports to the SVP of Product and Design.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the product roadmap for the beating heart of our Technology organization - all systems supporting the content lifecycle.

- Manage brand management for global brands and enable features to support a plug-and-play architecture with minimal core customization.
- Balance quarterly delivery needs with multi-year strategic goals for multiple core systems.
- Expand existing publishing platform capabilities and functionality based on input from cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Note that a key stakeholder is the commerce team who depends heavily on the CMS to drive our affiliate business. Affiliate commerce experience is a big plus here.
- Drive the development of new storytelling capabilities and digital experiences through better layout generation strategies, spearheaded through a new architectural approach, meant to help us optimize dynamic page creation.
- Work with revenue, data and engagement product leadership to determine holistic solutions to business challenges. Areas that will require cross-functional strategy include: data capture, execution on advertisement libraries, activating server side experimentation frameworks
- Collaborate with members throughout the company to identify areas of need and solutions that solve these challenges.
- Communicate with multiple teams and staff on priorities, tasks, and goals.
- Develop and execute a publishing platform technology strategy.
- Devising and delivering SEO and page performance improvements.
- Supporting the maintenance and growth of a multi-tenant web application and design system.
- Working with editors, designers and developers on improving the functionality of our core content types (articles, galleries, reviews, recipes)
- Representing the global platform team roadmaps and strategic goals to technology and business leadership.
- Hiring and managing globally geolocated teams and establishing metrics for their ongoing success.
- Partnering with stakeholders in design, editorial, engineering, and analytics, as well as sales, ad and revenue operations to achieve outcomes.
- Strong use of insight and data todrive decision-making
- Fostering a culture of experimentation and iterative growth.
- Requires a minimum of 7-10 years experience managing product experiences for consumer brands (ideally in the media industry)
